heeseung was known as the popular basketball captain, effortlessly charming, effortlessly hot. he was that senior everyone knew and held royalty status at decelis high. he reminded you of the concept of that one ex you could never move on from.

you were head over heels for him, real bad. down bad was an understatement. you were the female equivalent of him—pretty, smart, the it girl and princess of decelis, walking down the halls like you owned them and everyone knew that you did.

how could he resist you? yeah, that was the problem, he did because of that ditzy clumsy girlfriend of his, keeping you stuck in the friendzone.

you hated her, shooting discreet glares her direction whenever she walked by tripping over her own feet. every time she fumbled over her words, dropped things like she never held an object before, or accidentally got into people’s way making them frustrated; you’d just sigh from secondhand embarrassment. especially when heeseung had to pick up after like she was a child or when he had to apologize for her behavior 24/7.

“she’s like so whatever, he could do so much better.” you’d say to your friends every single time as your friends agreed with you.

despite all this, you picked up the way heeseung’s eyes would linger on you a few seconds too long every time you walked by. when you talked to him, he would lean in closer to you subconsciously. when he looked away from you, a small smile formed on his lips. and you could’ve sworn you saw his eyes glance at your lips multiple times. you’d hear from almost everyone that he would talk about you over and over again and they mentioned how you two should get together instead. you knew he liked you back, it wasn’t a secret, but his girlfriend was in the way.

during prom season, of course heeseung had asked his girlfriend out. despite many guys asking you out, you refused and went alone with your friends.

at prom, you noticed heeseung standing with his friends, no girlfriend in sight. and what a coincidence, his tie color matched the color of your dress.

he had an annoyed expression on his face. when you got him alone, his expression softened and he instantly smiled at the sight of you.

“you look beautiful.” he compliments you, checking you out in your prom dress.

“not so bad yourself.” you ask, checking him out as well with a smile on your lips. “so, where’s that girlfriend of yours?”

heeseung sighs, almost rolling his eyes, “she forgot prom was tonight, so she’s running late.”

the only thought you could form in your head was she’s so stupid, what the hell were you thinking? the fact that his dumb girlfriend was standing him up made your jaw tick.

“i don’t like your girlfriend, i think you need a new one. i could be your girlfriend.” you finally let out.

heeseung was taken aback, eyes widening. he stayed silent for a few seconds before a smile forms on his lips. “yeah?”
