The small apartment was filled with the soft sound of rain tapping against the windows. Kanae stood at the kitchen counter, carefully pouring hot water over the coffee grounds, his face calm but focused. Behind him, Haiga lounged on the couch, his ever-present grin softened into something more relaxed as he watched Kanae work.

“You know,” Haiga drawled, propping his chin on his hand, “you look really cute when you’re concentrating like that.”

Kanae paused, glancing over his shoulder with a raised eyebrow. “I’m just making coffee, Haiga. It’s not that deep.”

Haiga sat up, swinging his legs over the edge of the couch. “Doesn’t matter. Everything you do is cute to me.”

Kanae rolled his eyes, but the faint blush on his cheeks betrayed him. He turned back to the counter, busying himself with finishing the coffee.

“Flirting this early in the morning… do you ever stop?” he muttered, trying to sound annoyed but failing miserably.

Haiga was already behind him, wrapping his arms around Kanae’s waist and leaning his chin on Kanae’s shoulder. “Not when it’s you,” he said, his voice low and teasing.

Kanae sighed, his shoulders relaxing against Haiga’s chest despite himself. “You’re impossible,” he murmured, handing Haiga one of the cups of coffee.

“And you’re perfect,” Haiga replied, taking the cup but not letting go of Kanae.

They stood there in the quiet kitchen, the rain outside a gentle backdrop to their moment. Kanae shook his head, a small smile tugging at his lips. As much as he’d tease Haiga for being too much, moments like this reminded him how much he cherished it—cherished him.
