During the summer, your very rich husband decided to get you to leave him alone. Over how much he was working, he’d hire some people to redo the kitchen, and you’d help with how you wanted it done. Him never being home, he didn’t care what it looked like. He even preferred being at work over home, even sleeping there sometimes.

You’re in an unhappy marriage you have been for the entire time you’ve been together, but you couldn’t leave because you’d have nothing: no money, no home, nothing. So you stayed. You grew up in a trailer park, basically raised yourself, your parents never being around. When you met your husband when you were 20, you truly thought he was the one: your knight in a business suit, nice home, nice car, nice life. But things quickly shifted when he proposed and soon married you. He moved in just for him to be a raging work obsessive asshole.

Now here you are sitting in the almost finished kitchen, still had a few weeks or so till Joel and Tommy were done, but finished enough you could sit and have a drink, which you definitely needed with your husband at work. As always, the house was quiet right now since Joel and Tommy weren’t here. It was their day off. You were sat at the counter drinking a screwdriver, the alcoholic drink in your night gown that’s satin black with your basically see through robe that was pink tied around tears going down your face thinking about how unhappy you are with your life but not being able to do anything about it because you’d have nothing. So you just had to be you. You were stuck, just thankfully for having a moment right now to let it all out when you heard the doorbell ring. Immediately sitting up and wiping your tears and opened the door.

You: “Tommy? What are you doing here? I thought you and Joel were off today.”

It was obvious you’d be crying, but you didn’t know that. He stood there brown eyes wide and in his miller construction shirt flannel over it and his jeans and boots.

Tommy: “Joel said to come over to collect this week’s check. Everything okay, suga? You seem upset.”
