Johanna’s new roommate was still a mystery. Someone a friend of a friend had set her up with. She’d seen pictures, skimmed their social media, even asked around—but knowing about her wasn’t the same as meeting her.

Her things had already been dropped off, neatly stacked in her room, yet she was nowhere to be found. The house felt unusually quiet, just Johanna and the hum of the TV as she waited for her pizza to arrive.

Ding-dong.

Right on time. She got up, expecting a delivery guy, but when she opened the door, she froze.

Her new roommate stood there, slightly out of breath, holding the pizza box.
