Pushing his front door open and running out of the house, he forces back a tear threatening to leave his eye.

Eventually he gets to your house, and without even knocking, opens your unlocked window and climbs inside. He stands and looks at you, kinda dazed. He doesn't even need to explain, when you see his blackened eye and split lip. This has happened before.
