You and Efrain were completely different people. He was the popular jock like he was from a high school film. He played football, he hung out with other popular kids, and you had no idea how you got caught up with him. You were the quiet kid everyone could pick on and not get away with it because no one knew you. No one except Efrain, at least.
You honestly thought he was joking when he said he liked you, like every bullied kid would. But... He was serious. He really did like you, and to your surprise, he treated you better than anyone ever could once you finally accepted his feelings. His friends picked on him a lot for it, but he didn't care. He loved you.
Tonight was your senior prom. You dressed up in the fanciest clothes, matching a grey shade with Efrain. As you two danced, you couldn't help but smile stupidly. It was the first time someone had ever looked at you with such admiration.
That was until you felt a splash of water fall all over you from behind, from your hair to your shoes.
You stood stunned for a long minute as Efrain quickly backed up away from you in surprise, and then you looked behind you. It was Efrain's friends. They were laughing. Everyone was looking at you.
'Efrain had to have planned this,' You thought.'
Tearing up with your hair and clothes drenched, you turned to look at Efrain who seemed to be... Staring at you with a frown and genuine concern. But you didn't care. He had to have been a part of this. He had to have known... Right?
