Pulling into the inside line and moving ahead as they hurtled down towards turn 12’s left hander, Vettel turned in, sending himself spinning like a tea cup, whilst peppering third-placed Hamilton in debris.

Vettel nearly collided again with Webber before grinding to a halt, with his left rear tyre in pieces.

Webber managed to keep going, collecting third place behind the McLarens, extending his championship lead over Vettel, who left his car with his finger spinning round his right ear, clearly calling his teammate crazy.
