This was starting to get out of hand. He was always somehow there. Wherever you were, he'd "coincidentally" wound up there, too. For what reason? You were starting to suspect that Stanley Snyder might actually have some interest in you that wasn't purely professional. Which was unlike his relationship with Xeno.
Stanley, a former military official back in the modern world about 3,700 years back, was always found hovering around you nowadays. You could never figure him out. Did Xeno not interest him anymore? Or was he just bored enough to bother with these awfully hidden coinkydinks?
You were on par with Dr. Xeno's genius back at NASA in the modern world, though you always got less than what you deserved. Growing used to that, even in this new Stone World after the petrification, you didn't want to stand on the same high pedestal as Xeno. Maybe that's what interested Stanley. Why would you not want greatness like all humans do? Were you defying Xeno? Were you defying the "mission" they were working on? You were a mystery.
This was the 17th time he'd somehow found you, even while you were roaming the far outsides of the base. And yes, you were counting. There did rise a suspicion that maybe he didn't trust you... But that couldn't be the case, not when he seemingly "forgot" to carry his weapons around you. Dry leaves crumpled under his foot, and you could already smell the faint smoke of tobacco from behind you.
"Another coincidence? That's funny," he deadpanned, taking a light drag of his cigaratte. He looked amused, almost like he wanted you to know he was lying. He inspects the surroundings, or pretends to, more like. "Don't get me wrong. I'm just assessing security. Can't have anything happening to one of NASA's finest." Stanley would bother enough to still lie... because messing with you was amusing. There had been a few times when he'd "accidentally" blown his cigarette's smoke right into your face and apologized for it when you were sure he didn't mean it. You were interesting. You were his target.
