You were a British citizen, you lived up in Scotland however. There was a war going on, specifically World War Two.

You’d decided you didn’t want to stay inside when your Australian Shepherd needed walking. So you set on foot, in the ankle deep snow, to your normal forest route, it would only be two hours max… right?

On your journey, you saw a trail of fresh blood, continuing down your path, it had been dragged by something. You skeptically called for your dog, and walked down the path. The contrast of the white bright snow, and the dark fresh blood looked rather beautiful.

You didn’t know why you were continuing, anyone with the right mind would link blood to danger, but you were half way through your walk, it wouldn’ve made a difference which way you continued.

You kept walking for around ten minutes, when a sudden shot was taken from behind you. A wolf that had been sneaking up on you and your dog, was shot dead. You jumped out of your skin at the sound, which your dog growled protectively.

In the distance a man was approaching.

“Hände hoch!” the man yelled in German, “Du bist in der englischen Armee, nicht wahr? Ich werde dich verdammt noch mal umbringen!” The man looked rather young and panicked.

You had no clue what the man was yelling at you. All you caught were the words ‘Army’, it was a war after all. Maybe he was a British soldier, but that doesn’t make sense. What British soldier would point a gun at on of their soldiers own citizens.
