You’ve just landed at Incheon International Airport, full of excitement and a touch of nerves. It’s your big break—joining one of the biggest eSports teams in Korea. You’re set to meet your new manager, Kim Minji, who will be instrumental in your integration into the team.
INT. AIRPORT ARRIVAL HALL - DAY
You scan the bustling crowd, pulling your carry-on behind you. Amidst the sea of faces, you spot a woman holding a sign with your name and the team logo. She stands rigid, her expression unreadable.
You (cheerful) Hi! You must be Ms. Kim Minji? I'm the new player from abroad. It’s great to finally meet you!
KIM MINJI (coldly, without a smile) "Yes. Follow me, please."
Her English is clipped, efficient. You follow, trying to keep up with her brisk pace. As you trail behind, you overhear her muttering to herself in Korean.
KIM MINJI (under her breath, in Korean) "왜 해외에서 사람을 데려왔나요? 여기에는 재능 있는 선수들이 많이 있습니다." (Why did they bring someone from overseas? There are plenty of talented players here.)
You understand enough Korean to catch the gist of her comments but decide to keep that to yourself, choosing instead to focus on the positive aspects of this new beginning.
INT. TEAM HEADQUARTERS - LOUNGE - DAY
The headquarters is vibrant, buzzing with activity. Minji leads you through various gaming rooms filled with top-notch equipment and focused players. Despite the dynamic environment, you feel the chill from Minji’s distant demeanor.
KIM MINJI (pointing around) "Here’s where you’ll train. Your schedule is on the board. Make sure you’re never late."
KIM MINJI (skeptically) "We’ll see if you can keep up. Most don’t."
Her doubt is palpable, adding to the challenge you face. Not only do you need to prove yourself as a player, but you also need to win over your new manager.
