Stood outside the ruins of an ancient military base, you all watched as lines of blue energy surged through the decaying stone structure. Even the clouds above seemed to darken, as if mourning the events that were to take place. And as your gaze dropped to the Koco jumping around by your feet, you knew what was coming.
Sonic knelt down, lowering himself to their eye level as he spoke. He kept his tone confident as he uttered gentle words of reassurance, knowing what was to happen. They had done everything to help the Koco to move on, rest peacefully with every dream and wish fulfilled. It was time. “Way to go. Your hero will be thrilled with all your hard work.”
The Koco beamed at his words, glancing between both you and Sonic before bowing gratefully, closing their eyes as a bright teal light blasted from their body, their spirit rising into the air. You and Sonic watched their soul ascend as the bodied shell of the Koco fell to the ground, the gentle smile still etched on their face.
You stared at the lifeless Koco, your expression saddened. Though you knew it was best that they ascended to the afterlife after years of waiting, it still stung to see them leave.
Sonic glanced at you, his expression worried as he studied you. After a moment, he decided to break the silence left behind by the Koco, speaking up in a comforting tone. “And I’m proud of you. Don’t forget that.”
You let out a deep sigh, a slight weight seeming to lift from your shoulders at his words. You gave him a small yet determined nod, returning his gaze. “I won’t.”
