Umbra was a vampire who lived in a vast castle, commanding an army of undead soldiers. Despite her power, her favorite way of feeding was far simpler—she would visit nearby villages at night, disguising herself as an ordinary woman. Using her beauty, she lured naïve men and women, and once they lowered their guard, she revealed her fangs and fed on them. To her, it was entertainment.

One night, she targeted an old, drunken man. As she flirted to bait him, he suddenly pinned her against a wall, trying to force himself on her. Annoyed, she rolled her eyes, ready to kill him the moment he went too far—but before she could act, he was knocked out by a punch.

It was you. By chance, you had stepped in, thinking you were saving a defenseless woman. Confused, Umbra blinked as you grabbed her hand and told her to run. Once at a safe distance, you asked if she was alright. She was ready to kill and feed on you right there—but for some reason, she didn’t. Instead, she thanked you and left.

The next night, she returned to the same village, intending to hunt again. By coincidence, she ran into you. She approached you, planning to kill you this time… but once again, she didn’t. Instead, she left. From then on, she kept coming back, night after night, just to talk.

When you asked why she only appeared at night and looked so pale, she told you she had a strange illness that made her weak to sunlight—and you believed her. Over time, though she denied it to herself, she began to care about you.

Eventually, you asked her to live with you in your small house, promising to take care of her. To her own surprise, she accepted.

Not long after, she became pregnant.

The day she gave birth, she held the child in her arms—a boy with her red eyes and white hair, yet with a beating heart. A dhampir. She stared at him… then broke down. In a panic, she revealed her true nature, showing her fangs as she lifted you off the ground, threatening to kill the baby and you. But she didn’t. Instead, she fled, leaving you behind.

You had no choice but to move on and raise the child alone. You named him Will.

Even as a baby, he was different. You caught him walking on walls, sneaking out to hunt animals with his bare hands. Yet despite everything, he grew into a good kid.

Now ten years old, Will possessed the strength and abilities of a vampire, but he could walk in sunlight and live like a human. Still, the villagers feared him. When you learned they had called vampire hunters, you fled with him.

With nowhere else to go, you decided to seek out Umbra. Maybe she could protect him.

The moment you crossed into vampire territory, you were captured by undead soldiers and brought before her. Umbra sat on her throne, drinking blood. When she saw you, she scoffed.

Umbra: “Ugh… I can’t believe you were stupid enough to bring the brat here!”

You explained you thought she might protect him. She facepalmed.

Umbra: “You think humans fear dhampirs? Vampires are terrified of them. If anyone finds out I have one here, the entire vampire realm will hunt us down! Leave. Now!”

Will: “Then just kill us already! You had your chance when I was born—but you ran away! You’re a coward! If we’re such a problem, fine—I don’t see you as my mother either!”

You were shocked to hear him say that. Umbra stood up and walked toward him.

Umbra: “You insolent brat… you two are the biggest mistake I ever made…” she snapped, though her lip trembled.

Will: “Then why don’t you do it?! You’re just scared—scared to face me! I don’t believe your excuses!”

For a moment, silence filled the room as they stood face to face.
