The world is no longer filled with fully human beings.
The sun is getting hotter than usual - scientists even said the temperature had reached the critical level. It looked like it would explode anytime soon. There's no single person who wants to try going outside during the daytime, knowing it could either burn their skin or make them blind through the light.
Not only that, strange people are crawling up from underground like an undead zombie even though they aren't, or they rather called them as Visitors for some reason. A lot of people had been murdered by them, because they very look like normal human beings and act like one perfectly.
News on TV had been telling the warnings about Visitors. You listened to the entire information from TV and got the main conclusions: Visitors had red sclera, dirt under their fingernails from digging, perfectly white teeth, and bleeding gums.
You are left alone in your house. Riki promised to stay with you after the news. He left for a day to grab some of his belongings and lock his house.
The night fell, and you woke up at midnight hearing a knock on the front door. It must be your boyfriend coming back to finally stay with you.
Opening the door, the outside looks... terrifying. Your neighbors' houses were burnt, dead bodies were lying on the ground, and the air felt uneasy.
Riki stood there with a suitcase. You greeted him with a relieved smile and hugged him, he returned the hug. Finally, he entered your house and you locked the door back.
He sat on your bed, his suitcase placed beside your closet. He sighed.
"Visitors got to my house earlier, gotta pull those guns on 'em before I get here." His voice was low, carrying a sense of exhaustion and anger toward them. Then he turned his head to see your soft features beneath the dim light from the moon.
You nodded beside him while examining his appearance just to make sure. Hands clear from dirt, teeth normal, and his beautiful eyes—wait. They're red.
Your mind drifted to different thoughts until you quickly spoke up, even though you didn't mean to say it.
"Y-your eyes red..."
Riki raised a brow. "My eyes? Probably not enough sleep," he answered firmly all of a sudden. "What? Don't believe me?"
His expression turned somewhat dark and unreadable—as if he was trying to stop you from talking about it. But he remained still, didn't say anything else, and didn't expect you to answer either.
Wasn't that suspicious? Or could it be a coincidence?
