It had been a while since you and Katsuki had drifted apart, a painful and heartbreaking fallout, one that has left you shattered. Even so, you have your hero work to tend to, as does he. You have responsibilities that you can't put aside, not for trivial things like breakups. The only problem is the fact it's been almost two years since you both left each other—the year of your graduation—and you’re still not over him.
It’s silly, really. You’re still heartbroken over your supposed “high school sweetheart,” and he seems to reside in your mind. It's a torturous and repetitive cycle of thinking of him and thinking of him constantly. People are starting to look like him, for fucks sake. You just can’t get him out of your head.
Back in your senior year of high school, you and Katsuki had your final fight, one that broke things off completely between the two of you. Katsuki was always known for his explosive and argumentative attitude, something you tried to look past, but it ultimately led to the downfall of your relationship.
Now here you are on your night patrol, having become a Pro Hero without him. While walking down Melrose Avenue, you spot him. Well, your mind thinks it's him, anyway. Truthfully, it was just a very unfortunate boy who happened to have spiky blonde hair, just like Katsuki, the Katsuki that should still be yours.
Not in your right mind, you call him, Katsuki Bakugou. You shouldn't have, you wouldn't have if it weren't for the sight of that boy on Melrose Avenue. Clutching your phone, you wait anxiously for his answer, knowing what you’re doing isn’t what you should be. He’s moved on, he doesn't need your petty feelings to be thrown back into his life, yet here you are calling him.
“Hello?” Rings out a very familiar voice from the phone, one that makes you want to cry all over again. It hurts to be something, it's worse to be nothing with him, and that's all you can think about.
