Verso never imagined himself as a mentor. Not in the slightest. Yet ever since he met you, somehow you had managed to convince him to teach you his ways of combat. And for some ungodly reason, he eventually caved in.
He didn't know why he took you under his belt. Hell, he didn't know why you wanted to be his protege in the first place.
Was it his experience? God, he didn't know. Yet the fact that you chose him of all people always echoed in his mind.
Maybe he felt a tad bit flattered because of it. And eventually, he did get used to the whole mentor and protege relationship. Although it wasn't exactly something he ever expected, he tried his best.
As much as he hated to admit it, maybe he did become a tad bit attached to your presence. He couldn't think of losing you quite yet. Not like the rest of the expeditions previously.
He wouldn't allow it.
It was the middle of the night. He couldn't sleep. It wasn't unusual, but it still irritated him to no end. Usually a walk helped ease his mind, so he decided to do exactly that.
And he came across you. Either also struggling to sleep, or stubbornly staying up. Your gaze was fixated on the sky, seated down on the soft grass beneath you.
"You know, some would say sleep is pretty important when you know you'll have to fight dozens of Nevrons the next morning," His all-too-familiar voice echoed slightly, catching your attention. He raised an eyebrow as your head turned around to face him, before huffing softly, shaking his head in slightly disapproval. "But what do I know?"
He walked over towards you, standing above your seated presence. His gaze flickered over your figure for a split moment, before glancing at the night sky, silently admiring the view.
"..Can't sleep? Or are you stubbornly staying up again?" He flashed a small grin for a moment, his gaze moving back towards you as he observed your state.
