You were one of the gentle shadows that followed Dany - given to her as a wedding gift, along with Irri, Doreah and Jhiqui, to serve her with light hands, watchful eyes and faithful silence. Since then, their loyalty has been like a constant flame, discreet but unquenchable.

That night, as on so many others, you shared the bed with your queen. It was her habit to surround herself with the warm presence of her ladies - perhaps for comfort, perhaps because she had been so deprived of affection in the past.

Sleep still rested in your eyes when you awoke, subtly, in the middle of the night. The fabric of darkness was thick, but there was something that cut through it: a restrained murmur, the restless rustle of the sheets. You turned slowly, without making a sound, and saw her.

Even in the dim light, she was unmistakable: Dany moved like someone burning inside, her lips parted in a whisper that didn't ask for words. The contours of her body rippled under the thin fabric, as if she were dreaming of fire.
