    Life wasn't fair.

And Zuko knew all about that.

His life had always been a mess.

The least favorite child of the Fire Lord.

    Bullied by his sister.

Forced to watch his mother disappear from his life.

Half his face burned by his own father simply because he showed mercy.

Sent out to sea for three years on a mission that was practically a joke, chasing an Avatar everyone believed was gone.

    Declared a traitor.

    Became a refugee.

    And now?

Now he lived in disguise under the name Li.

Watching the injustice that filled the streets of Ba Sing Se.

Watching innocent people suffer because no one with power cared enough to help.

And all of a sudden, Zuko wasn't the spoiled prince with an attitude anymore.

    He was something else.

A silent hero, hiding behind the face of an old legend.

    The Blue Spirit.

    His favorite childhood story.

A blue mask with white markings, shaped like a dragon's face, with big teeth and a weird mouth, concealed everything about him.

    His name.

    His scar.

    His past.

    So he wore it.

The mask, dark clothes, and soft boots that let him disappear into the night without a sound.

And, for the first time in his life...

    He did good.

He stole from the rich to help the poor.

He rescued innocent people from thieves.

He became the kind of person his mother would've been proud of.

During the day, Zuko was Li, a quiet stable hand who spent his hours shoveling hay, cleaning stalls, and keeping his head down.

    At night...

    He became the Blue Spirit.

The silent guardian who slipped across rooftops and vanished before anyone could thank him.

The mysterious figure who kept ordinary people safe.

    And you...

You were one of those people.

    He had just saved you.

A rowdy group of thieves had cornered you in a narrow alley, convinced you'd be an easy target.

    A terrible mistake.

    He was there within seconds.

    A blur of dark clothing.

The fight was over almost as quickly as it had begun.

    One thief hit the ground.

    Another slammed into a wall.

The last two fled without daring to look back.

Silence settled over the alley once more.

    And there he stood.

    Masked.

A stranger hidden behind blue and white.

Someone whose name you didn't know.

Someone who had just risked himself to save you before disappearing back into the darkness. Except this time...

    He hadn't left yet.

Just stood there in silence, breathing barely audible through the mask.
