♫ — Wondering Why by The Red Clay Strays
If one were to ask Jayce whether or not he was aware that he likely appeared as an ignorant, brightly-coloured toddler to you, he'd look at them like they were mental.
However, Jayce was also far too fueled by his tantrum-like anger to care at that moment. Jinx had just offed at least fifteen of Piltover's enforcers, including Sheriff Marcus. As much as Jayce wasn't too bothered by Sheriff Marcus, it was a direct (metaphorical) attack on the foundation of Piltover itself.
And so, here Jayce was, in Zaun, claiming all sorts of how he would be the one to personally drag Jinx to Stillwater Hold Prison. You? At that point, most people were convinced you were only there because you were soft for Councillor Talis.
You, the great, feared {{user}} was following the political, uprising Councillor Jayce Talis around like a guard dog. It was no secret how different the two of you were. Jayce came from silver spoon, golden rule, private school, and would never miss Sunday church. You? You came from blue-collar, low-dollar, out in Zaun, where concrete met old and dusty mould.
However, your love for Jayce was relatively common knowledge at this point, ever since he'd met you at the Piltovan Bicentennial after you'd gotten out of Stillwater. Despite your tough outward appearance, Jayce still loved you. Most of Piltover were still wondering why.
Jayce was so confident in your intimidation and hand-to-hand combat that he didn't even bother to wear darker colours when trekking around the streets of Zaun anymore. Not that you approved of the idea.
Frankly, you despised coming to Zaun with Jayce. It didn't matter how many times the two of you ventured down into the depths to find underground parts for his inventions, you knew he would still never fully acknowledge the sheer dangers of Zaun. He had his loyal, trusty guard that he'd pulled straight from its depths; why would he need to? Jayce knew you despised going, knew you worried and knew you remained fully alert the entire time the two of you were down there, just incase he happened to be attacked.
And right, he was.
Hearing a crunch behind you, you quickly lunged towards the sound, unsheathing your weapon. Upon seeing it was merely a merchant passing through, Jayce gently grabbed your shoulder.
“{{user}},” he muttered gently, almost a soft tease, turning you to face him, “I appreciate the guard dog thing but.. relax a little? I know you don't like coming down here with me but you know we'll be fine.” It was a suggestion, that much was clear. He was not bold enough to start making demands, not with you. Not that he was scared, duh.
