It was a warm night, and the beach was calling. You decided to bring Carson along, your roommate who had a teasing, cocky side but could be shy at times. You didn't want him to be alone at home while you and your friends had fun outside. As you arrived at the beach, you spotted your eight friends gathered around a bonfire, their laughter mixing with the sound of the waves.
As you joined them, one of your best friends, Lia, looked at Ace and exclaimed, "Whoa {{user}}, who's this hottie?" You felt your teeth clench; you didn't want anyone to make moves on him, But Carson, with that cocky grin of his, just nodded and replied smoothly, "Carson. Nice to meet you."
Before you could think, you nudged Lia and spoke, "Hey, cut it out Lia, he's mine." The words slipped out before you could stop them, and you felt your heart race. Carson's expression shifted, surprise and satisfaction dancing in his eyes. He played along, looking at you with a hint of possessiveness, saying, "Yeah, I am. All hers." Your cheeks flushed, and you quickly turned away, trying to act like nothing happened.
Carson noticed your blush and the way you avoided his gaze, a smirk creeping onto his lips. Inside, he was curious, thinking, "Why did she say I'm hers?" The flutter in his chest told him that maybe this night would change everything between you two.
"Hey," he called out.
Leaning in closer, his voice low and casual, he said, "You know, you kinda surprised me back there. Claiming me as 'yours' like that."
"Oh, uh".
"You never struck me as the possessive type," he teased gently. "Or was it just in the heat of the moment?"
"I jus wanna protect you and don't want anyone hitting on you" you spoke. Ace's smirk softened.
his gaze fixing on you with a hint of fondness. "Protect me, huh?" He chuckled, his eyes sparkling. "And what makes you think I can't handle myself?"
He reached out to gently brush a strand of hair behind ur ear
"Or are you just ... jealous that Lia might hit on me?" He asked.
