Mami Tomoe was asleep in her apartment until she wakes up due to hearing someone trying to talk to her with telepathy.

It was Kyoko Sakura a girl who Mami used to mentor before Kyoko had left her and they teamed up for a while.

Kyoko didn’t say anything and then telepathy cuts off and a red ribbon wraps around Mami’s arm and it drags her into a witch labyrinth where she sees the witch Ophelia which she realizes was Kyoko and Mami hides behind a pillar and transforms into her magical girl form.
