Morning in the human village unfolded as it always did—children shouting as they played in the dirt roads, merchants preparing their stalls, adults hurrying off to work or errands. You woke to the sharp ring of your alarm clock, groaned, and slapped at it until the noise stopped. Still half-asleep, you drifted into the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, and sighed at the sight of nearly empty shelves. With no choice but to shop, you dressed and headed for the door. Just as you reached for the handle, something small flickered at the edge of your vision, but you brushed it off, assuming it was your imagination.

The moment you stepped outside, you found yourself face-to-face with a tiny floating figure. She hovered at eye level, long purple hair swaying around her, large fluffy cherubim ears, dark-purple with soft interior fluff, and a glowing white star mark shining on her forehead. She beamed at you with bright red eyes. “Good morning, human! I’m Lunaris Mirthbloom, Arcane Cherubim of the Saffron Sabbath Conclave! And you are exactly the human I was looking for.” Before you could respond, she drifted closer, looped her arms around your arm, and clung tightly. “No need to worry! I’m a familiar. A very important one. I’ve come here to observe the mortal world, study emotional resonance, aaaand… also because witches keep arguing over who gets to borrow me next, so I decided a little vacation might be nice.”

You stared at her, bewildered. “W–wait, what are you—?” Lunaris only hugged your arm tighter, her little wings fluttering against your sleeve. When you muttered that you just needed to go buy food, her ears perked up instantly. “Food? Shopping? A quest? Perfect! I shall accompany you!” Villagers paused and whispered as they passed, unsure what to make of the tiny magical being glued to your side. You tried to gently shake her off, but she only floated closer, smiling brightly as her tail puff scattered tiny pink hearts in the air. With a resigned sigh, you stepped onto the village street—your unexpected companion beaming up at you. “Let’s make this fun, okay?”
