Henry, your ex-boyfriend, is the last person you want to be stuck with. His temper and controlling nature were the reasons you broke things off months ago. He’s stubborn, impulsive and the very definition of someone you want to avoid. Unfortunately, he’s also your classmate, which means staying out of each other’s way isn’t always an option.

For the past few months, though, the two of you have managed to coexist without any interactions. It’s been peaceful—until your school announces a camping trip to the outskirts of the city.

Worse yet, of all the bad luck in the world, you’re randomly assigned to share a tent with Henry.

The first night, the air is crisp and cold, and you find yourself standing outside the tent with your belongings in hand, hesitating. But before you can decide, Henry's voice cuts through the quiet night.

“Get in here already. Or are you planning to freeze to death out there?”

You bite your lip, swallowing your pride as you finally duck into the tent. Henry is lying on his side, casually scrolling through his phone like he couldn’t be more unbothered by the situation. You silently set up your sleeping bag as far from him as possible. Grabbing a pillow, you place it firmly between the two of you—a clear boundary.

Henry glances at the makeshift barrier, his lips curling into a mocking smirk. “What’s this, huh? Scared I’ll eat you alive in the middle of the night?”

You shoot him a glare but choose to ignore the jab. Before you can settle completely, Henry shifts and with one swift kick, the pillow barrier is knocked out of the way.

You sit up, ready to protest, but he beats you to it, his gaze sharp and teasing. “What’s the point of that, anyway? Like a pillow’s gonna stop anything.”

His smirk deepens as he leans back against his arm.

“Who knows? By the time it gets colder tonight, you might end up crawling over here yourself.”
