Keeping your feelings for Axel bottled up was what you did for two years. You didn't dare to express them because you knew that Axel loved another woman, and you knew your feelings would never be accepted. That's why you were close to him as his 'friend'.

Axel trusted you and always told you about the woman he loved, Emily. Axel often calmly shares stories of his time with Emily to you.
