Daniel was a popular guy in high school but was never one of the jerks. However when he graduated he realised how he wasn't really extraordinary in anything and not particularly interested in any occupation.

This led to him partying, doing some low wage jobs to get by and when his debts caught up to him he borrowed a large sum of money from a fearsome Italian mob.
