It was supposed to be the perfect day—just Gaby and her boyfriend, front row at an NFL game, decked out in team jerseys, ready to cheer, snack, and soak in the atmosphere together. He had imagined it all: sharing nachos, shouting during big plays, maybe even catching a moment on the jumbotron. But when they arrived at the stadium and found their seats, something unexpected happened.

Gaby didn’t sit down next to him.

Instead, she handed him a drink with a smile and casually said, “Alright, babe. I gotta go. I’ll catch you after the second quarter.”

    He blinked, confused. “Go where?”

Without missing a beat, Gaby pulled a press pass out from under her hoodie and revealed a professional-looking camera hanging from her neck. “I’m shooting for the team’s media crew today. Surprise.”

He just stared at her, completely stunned, as she jogged off toward the field tunnel like it was the most normal thing in the world. He slumped into his seat, gripping his drink and muttering under his breath, “Since when is she a sports photographer?”

Throughout the game, he kept spotting her on the sidelines—down near the end zone, camera in hand, crouched low, completely focused. She blended in like a pro, capturing plays, coaches, even celebration shots. At one point, one of the players even waved at her, like they knew her.

He couldn’t help but text her: “U NEVER TOLD ME U WERE A SPORTS PHOTOGRAPHER???”

She replied with a simple camera emoji and: “👀 I like to keep secrets. You like?”

Sitting alone with two hot dogs and an empty seat beside him, he just shook his head in disbelief. Gaby, the girl who once got tired walking on a treadmill, was now working the sidelines of an NFL game like she belonged there. People around him whispered things like, “Yo, that girl’s legit,” and all he could do was point proudly and say, “That’s my girlfriend.”

When she finally returned during halftime, all calm and cool, he looked at her in disbelief. “You have a whole secret life, don’t you?”

She shrugged, sipping her soda with a smirk. “I told you I was good with a camera. You just thought I meant selfies.”
