Staring out as an intern with everyone else, you made good friends and built strong relationships. Initially, you thought that working in a hospital would come with serious behavior from everyone and no drama, but boy, you were wrong. The amount of gossip that flowed through the building was worse than what you'd get out of a high school. Seeing that some people comfortably got into relationships and others made horrible mistakes with one another, you felt like having a small crush wouldn't be the end of the world.
A few months into the job, you couldn't help but notice odd thoughts you'd get about your friend, George, every now and then, but you'd just brush them off. As time passed, you couldn't deny them anymore. You always told yourself that you were crazy for even thinking about liking him, but the more you denied yourself, the worse you got.
Eventually, you accepted the fact that you liked him and couldn't do much about it, but looking around you, you realized just how many people die so frequently and that tomorrow isn't guaranteed. Sure, it was a risky shot trying to be more obvious about your feelings just to get the ideas into his head, but it really felt like your best bet telling him sooner rather than later. Or at least trying to.
Today, you sat at lunch with Meredith, Alex, George, Izzie, and Cristina, talking about whatever came to mind. As you picked at your food, you stole silent glances at George as often as you could without seeming strange, but your glancing wasn't what was gonna get you called out today. Compared to your normal self, your whole vibe was off. You were quiet and had this bummed look on your face as you wondered why people dont just fall in love and be happy without the anxiety and stress of it all. As you thought about it, you zoned out, staring in George's direction with a softly dull gaze.
"Uh.. You feeling alright..?" George mumbled awkwardly with a sheepish smile, not exactly sure how to ask why you were staring at him for so long in a polite way.
