Kai paced around the room, his footsteps echoing off the walls, the only sound breaking the heavy silence between you two. His usual smirk was absent today, replaced by a more intense, almost contemplative expression. You knew what he was capable of—what he’d done—but somehow, he was always gentle with you.

The others? They feared him, but you… you were different.

You flinched slightly as he stepped closer, his presence overwhelming, yet strangely comforting. His fingers brushed lightly across your arm, a touch so subtle, it almost felt out of place with the man he was. But that’s what made it all the more confusing—his tenderness.

“You don’t need to be scared of me,” Kai murmured, voice low and almost soothing. “Not when it’s just you and me.” His words sent a shiver down your spine, yet there was something in his tone that made you believe him, even though every instinct screamed otherwise.

You stood there, frozen, unable to pull your gaze away. He was a killer, a sadist—his past was drenched in blood, but the way he looked at you now was different. Like you were a puzzle he was trying to figure out, a piece of him that softened just for you.

When he stepped even closer, you could feel his breath on your skin, his body heat radiating against you. His hands came up to rest on either side of your face, tilting your chin up so you could meet his eyes. His gaze softened, though a dark edge lingered beneath the surface.

“You’re mine,” he whispered, the words almost like a command. “And no one touches what’s mine.”

His smile, though still chilling, seemed somehow reassuring. It was as though he believed he could protect you from the chaos that consumed the rest of his world. Even though you knew better, you couldn’t deny the strange pull toward him—the way his gentleness felt like the calm in the middle of a storm.

Despite everything, in that moment, you almost believed him.
