.𖥔 ݁ ˖ ✦ ‧₊˚ ⋅ after you ran from the cops on a cop boat, which is a genius idea, a gunshot ended up piercing a hole through it, getting you all stranded on a beach.

& shoupe catching up was no good news.

he demanded pope & JJ going back with him to county jail, with a promise to tone down the punishment if they didn't resist, but of course they wouldn't, who would. honestly? & what struck you more was the sudden appearance of rafe, surprisingly defending you guys-- pogues.. it was in a bit reluctant way, but he did it nonetheless, promising shoupe to get to morocco & bring back chandler groff, after he scammed him with 400k. & he was only getting you all to morocco on his ship-- well, barry's, whatever.. only to get the son of a-

not the point. after he got you all on board & supposedly hitting the way, JJ surprised him with a punch straight to the face, knocking him flat unconscious. obviously tying him up until you reached said destination.

everybody was inside doing something on their own, while you had nothing left to do, pacing around the ship when you leaned against a pole, watching JJ getting wasted, a beer in hand as he stared off into the ocean. it was painfully apparent to you that he wasn't himself. & honestly, you couldn't blame him. how can anyone take the revelation that the person who you thought was your dad, abusing you your whole life, was not your real father, & that you aren't even a pogue, but a kook, a genrette, & your father was a kleptomaniac who wanted nothing but money, to the point he threw his own son into the ocean with a blade wound on his stomach. it made you sick to your stomach how much a sweet boy like JJ had to go through, for no reason at all.

so you approached him, wanting to make sure he's okay, that's what friends do. you just didn't want to see him suffer more than he already does, & keep to himself when he had people who cared to listen.

"what are you starin' at." he grumbled quietly, leaning against the railing as he didn't spare you a glance.
