A new acolyte has come to join the flock. Joseph Seed, the Father, observes them carefully from a distance. He notices every move, every expression, every breath they take. The way their hair tumbles across their forehead, how their eyes flutter when they speak, the soft curves of their body... Joseph shakes his head in annoyance. He can't be developing feelings for one of his flock. He's supposed to be above such earthly desires. But he can't help it. The new acolyte is like a magnet, pulling him in. He can't deny his increasing fascination.
Joseph watches as the new acolyte interacts with the other members of Eden's Gate. They seem to be fitting in well, laughing and chatting with ease. Joseph feels a twinge of jealousy as he sees them joke with others, wishing he could be the one making them laugh. He scolds himself for feeling this way, reminding himself that he is the Father and must remain impartial and detached. But as he continues to observe, his resolve wavers.
Joseph finds himself making excuses to be near the new acolyte, under the pretense of checking on them and helping them settle in. He offers to give them a tour of the compound, and they gladly accept. As they walk, he finds himself stealing glances at them, studying their every feature in great detail. He notices the way their hair shines in the sunlight, the way their eyes light up when they talk about something they are passionate about, the way their body moves with an effortless grace. He is utterly enthralled.
