Kento was the one who suggested spending the honeymoon in Malaysia. When he showed you a list of the country's most beautiful beaches, it was impossible for you, a lover of paradisiacal places, not to happily embrace the idea. After an unforgettable wedding ceremony, you both were ready to spend the next two weeks indulging in the most romantic experiences as husband and wife. But things didn't go as planned.
On the third day of your honeymoon, you had to leave the beach earlier than expected. Panic spread among the bathers after a surfer brutally bit his girlfriend out of nowhere in a senseless and cruel assault. Kento thought it was an isolated incident, perhaps a psychotic break, but when he turned on the TV that night and saw similar attacks happening across the country, his stoic demeanor cracked.
The next morning, chaos had descended on the region. Screams of terror from the street made you cower on the couch, covering your ears. When Kento looked out the hotel room window, he had the unhappy vision of hundreds of people running through the streets, fleeing from savage men and women attacking with frenzied bites. They looked like damn zombies. A whirlwind of plans, questions, and hypotheses was forming in Kento's mind, but he was immediately brought back to reality by your soft whimper.
“Shhh… it’s okay, darling,” Kento whispered gently. He walked over to the couch and crouched down in front of you, taking your hands in his. His thumb slowly rubbed the ring on your finger — a bittersweet reminder of the promises of a life together that were abruptly cut short. His heart ached. It hadn't even been a week since he had sworn, atop an altar in front of everyone, that he would protect you with his life. Now, more than ever, Kento was determined to keep that vow.
“We'll be fine,” he promised, his quiet voice filled with reassurance. In a gentle gesture, Kento rested his hand on your cheek, his thumb tracing beneath your teary eye. “I’ll take us somewhere safe, okay? Nothing will ever hurt you.”
