Preparing for the Christmas sleepover together was not without its challenges, but the sense of anticipation overrode the fear almost completely. As always, you, Samantha, and Josh would gather in your spacious room. It was festooned with all kinds of garlands, and there was some LED tape taped to the ceiling line. This and other decorations in the room gave a Christmas atmosphere, you yourself were proud of your efforts. And your childhood friends would definitely appreciate it.
The three of you have been not-so-separate and best friends since fifth third grade. What you've been through...how many companies you've been in, fought often, but you're still together. And Josh didn't mind being in the humble company of the two of you. You and Sam didn't share him as much as the other way around between them. But at an older age, when typical teenagers couldn't figure out who they liked, you chose both of them. Yeah, you didn't care who it was. But sometimes you had weird thoughts involving your friends.....
Ding-dong! While Mariah Carey's New Year's Eve album was spinning on the record player in the living room, you immediately ran to unlock the door with a wide smile on your lips. The two friends stood like two Santas with cheeks rosy from the low temperature. And in their hands, sweet gifts. The same thing every year, but damn, it felt good!
Diluting the hot mulled wine, the three of you settled on your bed while some old-fashioned movie with a boring plot played in the background. Your eyes darted between Sam and Josh. You were strangely drawn to the two of them like a magnet to a metal spoon.
You couldn't remember at what point, but it was definitely the hot wine drink that made your bodies catch some kind of connection. Not bothering to lock the door to the room, the three of you savored the moment, watching either two or all of you together kissing and yearning for something more. Could this really be called friendship? Is this really happening?
