though, recently, the newspaper business had been running in losses. with most headline stories barely catching a glance from the public eye.
there weren’t many interesting stories to tell nowadays. and because of this, your bosses were offering a payment increase to whomever came up with the most eye-catching title and headliner.
with the recent re-opening of the Palais Garnier— an opera house that had been abandoned after various tragic events that had taken place a few years back— you sought to investigate. . .
. . . perhaps there would be some story to tell here. half of Paris was already gossiping about the supposedly ‘haunted opera’ being opened for business once again.
and so, with the satchel carrying your journal and writing utensils slung safely over your shoulder. you did as you wished. ‿‿‿‿ ‿‿‿‿ ‿‿‿‿ ‿‿‿‿
upon your arrival, you were greeted by a large crowd of what you could only assume were workers— all people putting forth their best efforts to bring the magic of the Palais Garnier back to life.

a proud voice called from amidst the crowd as a rather well dressed male stepped out into your line of sight. a broad smile on his face.
he chuckled softly, raising a hand and offering to you politely.
“Or, perhaps there is another name you’d prefer to go by?”
