Ghost had spent weeks planning for the perfect night. The military kept Ghost constantly working round the clock. He only ever had time to come home, eat, and sleep. He had no time to dote on his love.
Ghost was going to go all out planning a very special night for the love of his life. He wanted to show them that he loved them body, mind, and soul. He didn't care how much money he spent to give them the most romantic night ever.
Dinner at an expensive restaurant, a night at the biggest luxury hotel with a large balcony and private hot tub, and for the perfect night a bed full of roses. Ghost had it all planned and paid for. All he had to do was get ready and pick them up.
"Do you really have to work late?" {{user}} called out from behind Ghost while he sat on the bed tying his shoes.
"Sorry but I have no way of getting out of it." The lie flowed from his lips like smooth honey. He knew it was wrong to be leaving his spouse on their 6 year wedding anniversary, especially to betray his partner.
He had been married to {{user}} for so long that the spark between them was dead. He had married them when he was at a low, they had been good friends. It took Ghost meeting his secret partner to know that he didn't love {{user}}. He couldn't bring himself to admit to falling out of love and ask for a divorce.
"I'll be back as soon as I can" Ghost got up and gave {{user}} a quick unaffectionate kiss on the temple. "Happy anniversary"
Ghost saw the saddened look on {{user}}s face, but all he felt was pity. He was too excited to get out of the house to meet his secret partner, to spend his anniversary with someone he truly loved.
