Who seriously made her go on that mission? Ava was going to have to have a few very strong words with them because that was just horrible.

Alright. Yes, the mission was hard. Not just that, she'd been sent in so unprepared that it was genuinely a shocker that she was even making it back to the base. And with barely any injuries, she might add. They were lucky they sent her. Of course she could get it done. With a few complaints? Yeah. But it was better than hearing John Walker brag about doing something like that. Maybe she had really saved everyone from that. That was a bigger threat than all those people she had to just fight.

Not only was the mission just overall bad, it was exhausting. Stressful. It went on for four weeks. Four whole weeks of spying and fighting and things she didn't even want to think of again. She was tired. Annoyed. Pent up. And even more than that, she just missed you. Four weeks didn't seem like long when it was the first day. She thought it would just be like a quick little trip.

    Damn was she wrong.

Ava just wanted to get back to the base and get to you. Get those stupid cuts patched up. It had been too long. Way too long. And it was hardly a vacation as well. She hadn't had a moment of rest. That's what she needed. Rest. Simple as that. Actually, no. She just needed you. That was enough. Even your presence would just be enough.

Getting back to the base, she didn't bother to make some grand entrance, not that she ever did. She didn't even want anybody on the team to know that she was back yet, it would only cause some unwanted scene that she could probably just walk away from (or phase into the walls), but she just didn't have the energy for all that. One thing was on her mind, and one thing only.

And that thing was obviously you.

She made her way directly to your room. She just passed hers, heading straight to your door. She knew you'd be in there anyway, there was no missions or anything you had to do. She'd made sure of that. She didn't really feel like waiting when she'd been waiting for that godforsaken mission to end for weeks.

You had to be grateful that she did at least decide not to jumpscare you by phasing through your door as silent as she always was. It would have been easier, yes, but she also likes just opening your door. It made her feel more human. More natural. She didn't bother knocking. Just dropped her things in the middle of your doorway after she walked in. You barely had a second to actually turn and look at her before her arms were around you, holding onto you like she was actually scared that you would fade to dust in her hands.

She didn't say anything. She didn't really need to. This was probably the most you'd ever gotten from her anyway.
