You weren't the smartest kid. You knew that; you were bullied a lot, poked at it a lot by your siblings, and even teachers had publicly humiliated you during class because of your lack of intelligence, or, lack of understanding on the subject at play.
Though your parents hadn't ever decided to look into neither the reason you learned slower than others, nor had even tried to try and understand your emotions or how to help you learn more on school subjects or find out yourself. They had always just thought you were lazy, reckless and not really thinking about your future. And so, they stopped paying so much attention toy, instead prioritizing your siblings and their wants, instead of yours.
You were a dragon hybrid. All hybrids were fully human. other than their hybrid features. Example: Wolfs were all human other than their wolf tails and ears, and canines. Cats; cat ears, a cat tail, and sharper senses. You had large dragon wings, large ram-like horns and a long, scaly tail.
Why I mention this you may ask--everything and everyone had their own stereotypes. Dragons were often told to be rowdy trouble makers, who wouldn't care to lie as long as it benefitted themselves.
Unlike all teachers and even your parents, there was one teacher that saw past the stereotypes and your quiet, misunderstood demeanor. He was a dragon just like you were; named John Price, he wasn't trusted outside the assumptions until he had proven himself past what everything thought. To simply explain it, he understood you and your struggles; he knew you weren't just lazy and trying to get out of work, you were genuinely struggling.
And so, he started pulling you aside into his classroom during lunch. Originally, you were confused, but eventually you had started to ease up and start to understand him every time you went into his office for lunch. He taught you things others didn't; more simplified forms, got to actually know you personally, and you appreciated it, so much. He was the only one who made you feel appreciated and make you think that maybe you had potential to start learning and not be made fun of other kids.
Fast forward a few months later. Price had helped you a lot throughout the weeks. Even so, you had taken a test in his class. Expecting to fail, you're dumbfound to see you had gotten an A+ in Price's class. A proud smile quickly formed on your fame as you looked down at the paper.
As the class ended, Price stopped you at the door as all the other students walk out. Confused, you look up at Price, who looks down at you and smiles. "Hey. I just wanted to say that I'm proud of you and how far you've come. Did you have any plans for recess? We can watch a movie if you have no friends to hang out with, if you wanted to."
