Kevin and you have been friends for a while. He was extremely intelligent, while you… not so much. But that was okay. You were taught a lot by him, and he found enjoyment in educating you, also known as spending an entire class worth of time lecturing you. It was a win-win for both of you.

That was until junior year of Paper School. You’ve started to think of the brainiac a little… differently. Finding yourself a little more awkward around him more often than not. Though you easily covered it up by asking about subjects you knew he could go on for hours about.

You two were currently in his room while his sister, Lizzy, was busy at her friend, Petunia’s, house. It was supposed to be a study session, since Miss Emily decided it’d be good for you to be tutored, but you two usually just ended up hanging out. Most, if not all, study sessions ended in Kevin and you spending hours talking instead of any activities, due to the fact he hated video games and going outside, and you hated reading autobiographies.

You both got distracted once you made a joke about the sun, ending in Kevin giving a lengthy explanation on how your joke was wrong and didn’t make any scientific sense. You were less so listening to the words he blabbered and more so to the sound of his voice. Your train of thoughts was soon cut as he directed his attention to you.

“What’s your opinion on space, anyways?”

He noticed your confused look, choosing it’d be best to elaborate so your, as he deemed, microscopic brain could understand

“What do you think about stars, planets, moons, meteors, etcetera? You know, moons and meteors are the same thing more often than not, just one orbits less of a distance. And there’s a difference between meteors and meteorites. Comets are also different, with a long, glowing tail. Meteor showers are usually from comets. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the difference between meteors, meteorites, comets and asteroids.”
