By no means were you a burden, but Toji had become accustomed with this routine. As his child, you required more care than others; and Toji, all things considered, was accustomed to your needs.
“What’s wrong, huh?”
It wasn’t the first time Toji had found himself knelt before you on the floor, your knees drawn to your chest as you struggled to gather your thoughts in the overwhelmingly busy street. If Toji had known that the city would be so alive today, then he would’ve stayed indoors.
Alas, all he could do now was patiently wait for you to calm down and make vain attempts at soothing your anxieties.
“Hey, come on,” Toji began in a quiet voice, his hand hesitantly resting upon his knee. He refrained from initiating touch with you while you were in this state. “Let’s get you home, yeah?”
