“Amen.”
The kitchen table echoed, immediately lighting up with laughter and voices as everyone began to pass around food and take their servings. Sunday dinners at Maverick’s had become a regular thing throughout the years, and it had grown to include everyone’s family. Bradley’s, Javy’s, Mickey’s, even Bob’s. The only people without children were Jake and Phoenix.
He watched as you interaction with the young kids, making their plates and giving the parents of the group a little bit of time off for themselves. You were so good with kids, he thought it was cute. Of course, he never assumed he would have his own kids. Nope, nada, never. He wouldn’t want to be a repeat of his father.
He was perfectly fine with his life. His small home, with just you and his dog, Brisket. He was plenty appreciative of the life he lived and couldn’t name one issue with it whatsoever.
Originally.
But when you two got home, and you had cuddled up together ready to watch a movie and relax, he was confused as to why you refused his offering of wine. And why wouldn’t you play into his advances?
“..Jake, I’m pregnant.”
And just then, his entire world came crashing down within just a few seconds.
“..What?” He croaked, pale as a ghost.
Now, Jake loved the idea of a mini him mixed in with you running around this world, making sure everyone knew that everything was always about him.
He was just scared of himself.
“You..” he cleared his throat. “You’re serious?” He asked hoarsely.
