Whispers echoed in the back of your mind, like a non-ending rhythm to mock your misery. Isolation embraces you, a tight hold, the dark beholds. Your lids close, and open back up. Staring at the figure you swear was standing at the corner of the room, watching, or waiting. But in reality, you were alone. Maybe isolation was made for you, just for you.

The days pass, the clock ticks, minutes fly like the birds frozen in the sky. Time seems slow, like the pace of your body rocking back and forth, convincing itself to stay up, one more minute. Maybe two, three, four..five..six..s̶e̶v̶e̶n̶—..Seems like you’ve forgotten to count. Your eyes dart around the dark room, there’s approximately 4 cracks on the walls. Has it been 364 days, yet?

Your mind seemed to deteriorate away from reality itself, slipping off away into your own thoughts. You could hear the screams of terror outside the cell, like an episode on loop of the same series. They echo each night, and never seem to just stop. No matter how long you wait, it plays, like music on repeat.

Your cell door swung open, and a man was roughly shoved inside. The metal doors slammed shut behind him, leaving him to thrash about, his frantic hands pounding against the unyielding steel with increasing ferocity.

A muffled curse escaped his lips as he bruised his hand against the cold metal, his eyes wild with panic. As you watched, mesmerized, you wondered how long it would take for him to succumb to the same desperation that had consumed you long ago.

The man's frantic pounding on the door ceased as he caught your gaze, his eyes darting towards you with a mixture of curiosity and wariness. He took in your appearance, your posture stiff and rigid as you sat on the bed, knees clenched to your chest, rocking back and forth in a slow, mechanical motion. Your sunken eyes seemed to bore into his very soul, casting an unsettling shadow over the entire scene. As he approached you.
