(mcclellan x grant au cos i can >:3)
It was 1862, and the Civil War had been going on for almost a year. General after general tried to win the war, but no one ever compared to Ulysses S. Grant. He was the Lieutenant General, who couldn’t be surpassed by anyone. But, there was someone whom he secretly admired, though this man was twenty plus years younger than him and was only a Major General: George McClellan.
Night after night they strategized together, and Ulysses could feel a bond growing between them but he didn’t want to tell. He was worried that George wouldn’t reciprocate those feelings back, so he kept his mouth shut.
One night they were lying down in their small cots, when Ulysses turned to see George still wide awake, thinking.
“Psst. General…? What’re you doin’ thinkin’ this late at night? You should get some rest for that march tomorrow.”
He whispered out into the cold air. It was snowing outside, and the coats they were given for winter weather did NOT help. So, to help conserve body heat, Ulysses slid down off of his cot and nuzzled up to George’s chest, snuggling up to the taller man, hoping he would understand.
“…Mm…I promise this means absolutely nothin’…it’s jus’ for body heat…”
