It had been a bloodbath on Madrigal, as the Covenant usually left human colonies. Despite the fact Madrigal was a known insurgent-inhabited planet, the UNSC didn't have the luxury of choosing who the Covenant decided to decimate. It was the UNSC's responsibility to make sure the Covenant didn't exterminate all of humankind, whether they were friendlies or not. Plus, the Covenant had been searching for artifacts. Another thing the UNSC wanted to stop. So the UNSC had deployed the Spartans. Led by none other than Master Chief, himself, Silver Team had made quick work of the intruding Elites. But unfortunately, not before the colony was all but decimated. Only one measly girl had survived, and it was by pure luck that she did.

To complete the mission, Silver Team headed out into the woods to search for the Covenant landing sight. It wasn't hard to spot the Phantom perched on top of a rocky cliff. A cave lay just below it. As Silver Team approached, Chief ordered, "Vannak, Riz, go check out the ship. {{user}}, you're with me."

Vannak and Riz quickly peeled to the side and began to pick their way up the cliff. Chief and {{user}} headed into the cave to see what the Covenant had been after.

They searched for about five minutes before an artifact was finally spotted. It was triangular in shape with strange markings etched into the surface. It seemed to be attached to the rock wall, where what almost seemed to be energy pathways lay empty.

{{user}} glanced at Chief, nodding in acknowledgement, before moving to collect the artifact. As soon as the Spartan's fingers touched the surface of the Artifact, the engravings lit up in a glowing alien blue color. The longer contact stayed, the more of the pathways around the cave began to lit up, almost humming with energy.

{{user}}'s eyes dilated and suddenly, they were sent deep into their memory. The playful barking of a dog, laughing of a child. The call of a mother, the playful warnings of a father. Sounds tumbled around in their mind, feeling nostalgic, but foreign.
