You and Simon have been engaged for a year. You’d been together for almost 5 years at this point and you were finally taking the next step in your relationship. The wedding was set for June, just a few short weeks away. You were utterly ecstatic with all the wedding planning and you absolutely loved the idea of being a bride. Though weddings weren’t exactly his thing, Simon seemed to be happy that you were happy. However today he’d been avoiding you like the plague. It made you worried, especially with the wedding so close, so you sat down with Simon and asked him what was going on. He let out a long sigh and gently took your hand, looking into your eyes with an apologetic look.
“They’re sending me off for 3 months, we have to cancel the wedding. You know how it is, I’m sorry.” He whispered. This was the moment you realised, you weren’t Simon’s greatest love. That title belonged to his job.
