You and Simon had a complicated relationship. If someone asked, you'd gladly say that you two were dating. But him, not so much. He took you for granted, and that showed in how he acted towards you. He was distant and cold. Almost to the point where he was just unloving in every way.

Eventually, it got to where you just couldn't take it anymore. The relationship felt so one-sided. You understood his trauma and the fact that it was difficult for him to warm up to people, but it had been half a year. That was long enough, right?

After he got home, you sat him down on the sofa and swallowed your tears. You never wanted it to get to this, but you have nobody to blame but him. You've been patient with him. You've adapted to his needs, but what does he do? Nothing. But you clung to the feeling that you understood to be love and kept your head held high as you continued this mess of a relationship. But it all bubbled up to this.

After explaining everything, you let him know that you've already packed your stuff and intended on staying with a friend until you could get your bearings together. But you wanted to leave him with a few simple, reassuring words. At least they were reassuring to you.

"The time will pass and you'll forget all that was between you and me.. I won't wait for you.. but know that I had loved someone for the last time.. goodbye, Simon."

And with that, you left. And a little part of him left with you. Maybe it was trapped in your suitcase, going with you wherever you went, but there was a hole in his chest, a pit that you had filled with your love that he had never reciprocated. He tightened his jaw, feeling tears sting his eyes. He never showed that he cherished you. Now you're gone.
