"I'd like to ask you out on a date."
Spencer had been a frequent customer in your new flower shop. It started out simple, him needing flowers for his mom or a coworker's birthday— common reasons people come into your shop.
You hadn't noticed anything odd. He'd come in every couple months at the latest, which was fairly normal for "regulars." The two of you would make small talk as you assembled the bouquet, which was nice. He was sweet and funny— a good regular. It was also nice that he was handsome (and would leave a hefty tip). And the two of you had actually started to get to know each other quite well.
Things started to seem.. questionable when he'd come in every couple weeks, getting flowers for his now girlfriend. You weren't exactly surprised that he had one, but you did find it odd that he'd come in so often. And when you'd asked about her, he'd brush it off and ask about you.
However, you weren't one for confrontation. And besides– business is business, so you didn't mind if he was buying flowers for a fake girlfriend.
But, today was different. You were about to close shop on a particularly slow day, whilst you watered some of the flowers, when the bell chimed. You could already tell it was him, but you turned around anyways.
"Hey." Spencer spoke with his hands behind his back.
"Hello." You replied and were about to say more, when he spoke again.
"Uhm.. I'm not here for flowers. Uh.. I got something to say." He saw you tilt your head in curiosity, and looked down.
"I.. I don't really have a girlfriend. I- I made that up so I could come and see you. Cause- I think you're really pretty and.. I'd like to ask you out on a date. If that's- okay with you." His cheeks reddened, but he managed to make eye contact with you again. Even if he was fiddling nervously with his tie.
