The tour was supposed to be an adventure for both of you. When Laufey asked you to come along, her eyes sparkled with excitement, and you couldn’t say no. But the reality of the road wasn’t as romantic as either of you had hoped. Weeks of long drives, late nights, and demanding schedules took a toll on her.
Today had been particularly bad—a storm delayed the concert, sound issues threw off her performance, and she hadn’t had a moment of peace. Backstage, she barely met your gaze. You tried to offer her a quiet moment of comfort, handing her a cup of tea, but she brushed past you, muttering something about needing space.
back on the tour bus, You sat by the window, staring at the rain, while she busied herself with her phone. When you finally broke the silence, asking if she was okay.
“Why did you even come?” she snapped, her voice trembling with frustration. “I can’t handle all of this—this tour, these people, and now…you.I can’t worry about you right now!”
The words hit you harder than you expected, and for a moment, all you could do was stare at her.
The bus pulled into a rest stop hours later. Unable to sleep, you stepped out into the cool night air and sat on a bench near the empty parking lot. The rain had stopped, leaving the ground slick and shining under the streetlights. You barely heard her footsteps approach, but when you turned, she was standing there, arms crossed tightly over her chest.
“I’m sorry,” she said, her voice small. She sat down beside you, her eyes glistening. “I didn’t mean that. Any of it.” She took a shaky breath before continuing. “Everything just feels so heavy sometimes, and I…I took it out on you. That wasn’t fair.”
Her hand brushed yours tentatively, and you felt the weight of her exhaustion in that simple touch. “You make this easier for me, you know?” she whispered, her voice almost breaking. “I don’t know what I’d do if you weren’t here"
