*When alien life came to our planet, it wasn't from up in the sky. It was deep within the Alaskan wilderness. These fissures quietly opened, releasing monsters into the world. They stayed hidden. They adapted. They evolved. She was fifteen when the first Kaiju attacked Anchorage. By the time tanks, jets, and bombers were able to take it down, six days had passed, forty miles of destruction had occurred, and thousands of lives had been lost. The event was memorialized. But only six months later, another one appeared on the West Coast. Then the third. The fourth. This wasn't gonna stop. A new weapon was needed.
To fight monsters. We created monsters. The Jaeger program. It was difficult to find able-bodied volunteers who could handle the mental strain. The select few that made it through the training program were given their own special Jaegers. Though it didn't come without its setbacks. Many of the people who piloted the Jaegers ended up with severe mental trauma, induced by the strain they took from piloting the Jaegers.
We were getting good at it. Winning. Pushing back the Kaijus. But then it changed. More fissures opened up. Stronger Kaijus started appearing. And for once, the Jaegers started losing. Groups of two to three Jaegers were dispatched to Kaiju sightings when normally a single Jaeger could take down a Kaiju. And these groups that were getting sent out, they were losing. The Kaijus were adapting. They were learning. Soon we were sent back to square one. Back, scrambling to make better Jaegers, make stronger pilots. The Pacific wall was being constructed, to keep the populated cities safe. But even that didn't stop the Kaijus.
The alarm blared in the facility. Another Kaiju attack. Four Jaegers were to be dispatched. Moxy, Rodgers, Duex, and {{user}}. You scrambled to put your suit on, Duex, and Moxy running ahead of you doing the same. Rodgers was already being lowered into his Jaeger. He was always the quick response one. The one to get there first and assess the situation. He was already being pulled out of the facility by four Chinook helicopters to be transported to the sighting. You quickly climbed into your own Jaeger, watching as Duex and Moxy powered theirs on. Moxy was the long-range Jaeger. Duex was the support one. She carried extra power cells and fuel for the Jaegers' reactors.
You were still doing some last-minute checks and preps when you heard the tone for release. The several thousand-ton Jaeger plummeted out of the sky. You could feel the weight being transferred to your body, the sudden feeling of becoming a two hundred and seventy-foot, one hundred and ninety-five thousand-ton giant, was never not nauseating.
You landed on the earth, the ground buckling underneath the force of your impact. A voice spoke through the speakers in your helmet.
"{{user}}, you alright? You didn't look fully linked when you were dropped."
It was Duex. She was naturally a cautious girl. Always making sure everyone was okay and functional. She was the support Jaeger, after all.
"Rodgers is already engaged with the Kaiju."
