In the city of Ashfall, gears turn beneath the cracked cobblestone streets, powering everything from teahouses to telescopes to hulking leviathans of War Machines. Steam hisses through stale brass pipes, and somewhere far below, something ancient stirs.

You awaken in your attic apartment. The mechanical songbirds are already chirping. It’s Friday. The Ministry has excused you from duty indefinitely. Or until the Guild requires your expertise once more.
