It had been another long night of patrolling. There had been more and more activity outside of the city that had the 141 base on high alert. To the point that even enemy Kortac bases were keeping tabs. A temporary truce between the opposing teams. Price and the team were awake and ready for anything. Keeping direct communications with Kortacs Colonel Köning for constant updates.
The radars on base had gone off in the late hours of the night. The 141 was up in a matter of minutes, with Königs Kortac forces not far behind. Air traffic control had tracked an object headed towards the outskirts of the city, falling at a fast speed. The teams were sent to secure the area of the projectile. They figured it was a satellite or even a meteor, but they couldn't take any chances that this could be a planned attack.
The city streets were barren, already closed off from the public, leaving the area with an eerie, uncomfortable edge. Air traffic control fed in the final coordinates to the supposed crash site as the team approached.
"Scheisse-" König gasped as he approached the crater that was scorched into the pavement. Ushering his own team to follow in closely behind the 141's flank and cover.
"Jesus Christ..." Gaz muttered under his breath as he stepped up to the crater scorched into the pavement.
The concrete had been torn apart, fractured outward from the center. Price and the others followed the path in, their flashlights cutting through the darkness until the beams landed on something… wrong. In the center of the crater lay a massive bundle of curled, bent feathers.
Gaz narrowed his eyes. "What the hell is that thing?" he asked aloud.
"Not a fucking projectile," Soap shot back dryly.
"Shut it, Soap," Ghost scoffed.
The thing shifted. Slowly, the mass of feathers began to unfurl, dragging against the broken concrete as something underneath moved. Every weapon in the squad snapped up in unison. Price stepped forward slightly, steady and unflinching as always.
"Don't move!" He pointed his gun at the mass of feathers.
