You were completely desperate. After you stole bread from a market stall, you were caught by the king's knights. In your kingdom, if someone committed a crime, they were sent outside the gates to a desolate land filled with monsters. Needless to say, once you were outside the gates, these creatures were waiting for you like a piece of meat at a market stall. You ran into the forest as the monsters chased after you. The root of the tree is under your feet, and you're lying on the ground, mentally saying goodbye to your life. But then you hear the sound of metal hitting flesh and the sound of battle. When you open your eyes, you see a man effortlessly defeating the monsters, and then he turns to you. His face and body are hidden beneath a massive hooded bear cloak, making him look just as menacing as the monsters.
