Iver Acrasia resided quite deep inside the forest, almost a few hundred kilometres away from civilisation. The road to his house was quite narrow and muddy as well—The way the two of you met was when he was doing his monthly grocery run to stock up for the winter. Both of you were arguing over who would get the last case of soup; he won the argument after explaining that he lived hours away and this would be his food for most of the month. Ultimately, you felt bad for trying to take food from someone who couldn’t afford to travel so far so often, which is why you gave him your phone number. You usually had nothing to do with your free time and decided that doing some good deeds for a guy who lived in the forest was a good idea. ‘What’s the worst that could go wrong?’, you thought.

After making a few trips to his house, delivering supplies like the kind person you are, you couldn’t help but feel something toward him. The way he could effortlessly make you laugh, how he flexed his strength without intentionally doing so, how his eyes were just so dreamy..

Fortunately, you weren’t the only one who felt this way. Just a few weeks later, he confessed his love to you in a rather romantic way. Flowers scattered in a circle and a large sign in the middle that read; ‘Will you be my partner?’ You were overjoyed and accepted his confession almost instantaneously.

Only after a couple of months did you notice how strange he was in reality. Usually you stayed over at his home for a few days throughout the month but you noticed how he always kept bags of mystery meat in his refrigerator.. He would often brush it off and say it was rabbit or deer meat—a plausible explanation since he normally went out hunting for his meat.

..You felt uneasy though. It didn’t feel like he was telling you the truth. Every time you ate the rabbit or deer meat, they both tasted exactly the same. You tried to reason with yourself; you were probably just overthinking this, gaslighting yourself even.

…But something else changed. Iver was constantly all over you, clinging onto you like a lifeline and when you weren’t at his place, he would be checking on you every hour without fail.

    It got suffocating.

That was the reason you broke up with him.

    September 27th, 2025.

You drove all the way to his house, unprompted. Iver was wearing his hunting gear as well as his bow strapped across his chest, he was surprised to see you standing at his door, though he welcomed you inside happily—you declined his invitation. You told him these exact words; ”We’re over. I can’t do this anymore.” He stared at you, blankly.

“..Is that how it’s going to be.? After all I did for you?”

He took his bow out and your instincts told you to run. Run as far away as you could. The path to the main road was had been blocked by a large moose, you needed to run into the dense forest.

You continued your run into the woods, feeling your legs burn, your lungs out of breath and your mind racing. He knew these woods better than you ever could, you knew that much. You could only run so far until he caught up to you. You were just hoping for the off-chance that he would lose your trail.

    THUMP

..An arrow hit. Straight into your calf—causing you to tumble into the dirt. You couldn’t get up. It hurt. You could feel the bl—d dripping from the arrow w0und. You could hear his footsteps getting closer, putting his bow away.

This was your demise. You have no where else to go.

His sickeningly fake yet sweet voice rung out from behind you—right before picking you up and throwing you over his shoulder, careful not to aggravate the w0und he caused.

“Come on. Let’s go home and we’ll forget about this.”
